With a few exceptions a glove hitch is not really suitable for use on the body. It creates an uneven pressure and may obstruct veins or irritate nerves. Never use a glove hitch on a single limb, such as an arm or a leg.

A glove hitch is a handy knot, since it tightens. The harder your sub pulls the ropes, the tighter the glove hitch will become. Yet, as soon as the tension is relieved, it is easy to untie. This ability to tighten itself however, is exactly what makes the knot unsuitable for use on the body.

Constrictor Knot:
An alternative to the glove hitch is the constrictor knot. It is a more secure knot that has s similar ability to tighten under strain, yet is easy to untie.

The constrictor knot is especially useful if the pole or beam you are using has a very smooth surface (such as metal), since it is less likely to slip up or down the pole.

The knot too is NOT suitable for use on the body because of the uneven pressure, it creates.

Handy hint: Both these knots can be adjusted so they can be removed instantly in the event of an emergency. To do this, simply double up the end of your rope during your last "stitch". This will allow you to release the knot with one pull.

Pro Hint: Want to create a cruel teasing bondage? Take two pieces of thin, somewhat rough rope and tie one end of each around a nipple.
