Not everyone is "social network savvy", so here are a few answers to frequently asked questions about building a profile.
Description: This is the core of your profile. The idea is that you describe yourself (your kink, inclination, etcetera, but it is a good idea to mention more mundaine things as well, such as your current relationship, hobbies, interests, maybe your job, etc.). Who you are is more important than what you want or what you may be looking for (reserve that for last paragraph).
Headline: This is the header of your profile. It can be anything - your motto, a catchy one-liner, whatever you fancy.
Tags: Tags are keywords that you can add to your profile. This helps the background search engine (and by the way all other Internet search engines) to find your profile and relate it to others with similar keywords. Your kink, your inclination and such are good tags. The more precise you are, the better (for example: use "spanking" rather than "bdsm" if you are actually into spanking). You can add as many tags as you like, but less and more precise is better. You'll find a "tag cloud" on the opening page. Click one of the tag words and the search engine will come up with a list of people who have similar tags in their profile. This is one way to rapidly find others who share your interests.
Pictures: Using pictures in your profile is a good idea. Most people ignore profiles without pictures. Without at least one picture you will probably not make many friends. If the picture has a person in it, make sure this person is you (and some picture nicked from te net). Alternatively, use a picture that is relevant to your personality, emotions or kink (a unicorn, an angel, a symbol or something funny). Genitalia (dicks, pussy's and breasts) are usually considered to be boring and are likely to be ignored. Remember that if you use pictures that are not yours or that you do not own the publication rights to, this may get you into trouble.
Promotion: We do not care if you promote your website, kinky business, yourself (as a model, producers, working girl, etc.), etcetera. In fact we encourage this. If you are a kinky professional, feel free to use your profile or the classified ads section for promotion. Also, you can create a group for that purpose. Your business must be kink-related. Promoting Viagra or similar drugs, casinos or fire arms for example is not allowed. Check the Terms for Service for details on what is not allowed here.
Excluded profile subjects: We do allow a lot here, but no illegal stuff. Any reference to children or animals for example is not allowed. Trying to do this is one of the very few things that can get you removed and banned.
Invisible surfing: It may be you would like to be able to see others witout being all that public yourself. Or you want to go on holidays without having to come back and face an overcrowded mailbox. Or your circumstances simply do not allow you to go public. When you set your account to "suspend" your profile will still be there and fully operational, but it will not be invisible to others.
Languages: While the prime language for the community is English, there is no reason why you shouldn't use your own language for your profile, messages, groups, etcetera. The only restriction is that it must be language the community management can read (in order to be able to moderate if necessary). Currently these are English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch.
Matchmaker: One of the unique features is our "matchmaker". When you search the database for friends you'll see a match-percentage. These matches are based on a variety of info from the profiles: country - area - zip code for geographical matching, gender and partner preference, prefered kink and prefered gender and inclination. You can greatly improve your success in partner search by making your profile as complete as possible. You may edit your profile at any time.
Your personal URL: Of course you can have a personal URL (web address) for your profile page. You can use this to make links to it from other sites (such as MySpace or Facebook) or personal webpages. To create links to your personal page use: http://www.powerotics.com/dolphin/your_nickname_goes_here
Moderation: Like all other social network sites there is no pro-active moderation. We operate, based on the assumption that people are well-adjusted, sensible and responsible adults. However, breaking the rules will lead to removal and reporting to the authorities if illegal stuff is found.
