Strange question right? Well, actually not. We are in the process of handling a database conversion problem. In the conversion your gender (ehm, well just the one in your profile) may have gone astray. Please check your account and profile settings to check the following:

* your gender

* whome you would like to meet

We are hand-correcting profiles as best as we can but yeah, we can make mistakes too (would you believe)

And while you are at it: if your nickname is less than five characters, please adjust it to at least five. This too is a new database requirement.

We have improved our search/matchmaking system. That requires a bit of action from your end.

Please turn to "My account" and next "My settings". In there you will find an option to describe the relationship/situation you are currently in. Please tick the appropriate button there.

In order to prevent unrequested / unwanted "invitations" this feature by default is set to "single, not dating" for your convenience. This means that unless you make changes your profile will NEVER turn up in searches!

In other words: want a date, a friend or a partner? Edit your settings!

One of the things the KinkCulture team is trying to do is to be as userfriendly as we possibly can (within the limitations that a day has only 24 hours and that we do need to eat, sleep and spank or otherwise maltreat our partners - grin). What we try to do is to try and accomodate our members as best as we can. For this, we need your input.

Look at it this way. The software that is behind this community is huge and has more options and possibilities than you can think of. if we would dump all that on members it would be so confusing that most members would simply feel both lost and overwhelmed. So, we're not going to do that.

Instead, the route we are taking is the "peep" system. In other words: if users ask for something and we think it is of more or less something more users would want or feel comfortable with, we will try to implement it. Which is why we ask you to ...... ask!

Please bring up ideas, things you would like, stuff you don't need, things you badly need or things you miss. If it is feasable, it is more than a little likely we will accommodate your requests. Or at the very least try to.  This is YOUR community, so YOU should feel at home here.

Having said that - it is not unlikely that what you are looking for is already there. Please do take a moment to check my blog for hints and tips on how to use KinkCulture and get as much benefits from it as you can. And use the help groups. Either one of our hosts or other, more experienced, members are likely to point you to what is already there. 

We have a substantial team around. Not just the webmasters and hosts, but quite a few technicians as well. These you never see or hear about, but be assured that some of them work around the clock to turn this community into the best there is.

So ..... want something? Need something? Can't really live without something? Please ask! 

In the next (hopefully few) days we will be doing some major upgrades. That will result in even more options for KinkCulture members. At times however it may cause some inconvenience. We will try to keep that to a minimum. Please bear with us - it is largely done because users are asking for more. So .... it's your own fault if something breaks

In the meantime, some things have already changed. The first translation project is largely finished. This means that our Dutch users now have better guidance throughout the site in their own language.

And if you are interested: we have a "press office" operational (hit the "press link" in the very top menu).

KinkCulture heeft een nieuwe host - een gebruiker met intussen al heel veel ervaring: Eram.

We kregen al mailtjes voor de webmaster die begonnen met "Beste Eram" (grijns)

Feit is dat Eram niet alleen een enthousiast lid en begenadigd ledenwerver is, hij komt ook met uitermate bruikbare ideeen en kritiek voor de webmasters.

Dus ..... van harte welkom Eram.

Een van de problemen van Japanse bondage is, dat de informatie, de kennis, fotografie, films en wat dies meer zij (zo dat er al is) sterk versplinterd is. Boeken bestaan wel, maar dat kan best even zoeken zijn. Zo heeft de Japanse topfotograaf Araki veel bondage fotografie gedaan, maar het vinden van zijn fotoboeken is een hele klus (al heeft de Duitse uitgeverij Taschen wel redelijk recent een prachtig maar niet bepaald goedkoop overzichtsboek van al zijn fotografie samengesteld). En behoorlijk wat materiaal bevindt zich in Japan en tegenwoordig in toenemende mate ook in China en is dus in het Japans of Chinees.

Op het Internet is het ook al niet gemakkelijk, al was het alleen maar omdat behoorlijk wat informatie en fotografie - die als "Japanse bondage" wordt aangemerkt - daar helemaal niets mee van doen heeft.

De Bondage Geisha website brengt daar verandering in. De voornaamste verandering is: bundeling en catalogisering van wat er al is - voorshands vooral waar het fotografie betreft en (nog) in iets mindere mate film, info en kennis.

Die bundeling is mogelijk geworden door iets, dat in Japanse bondage kringen schaars os: samenwerking.

Dankzij het feit dat Wasteland en Powerotics zijn gaan samenwerken (waar tenslotte KinkCulture ook een uitvloeisel van is) is het om te beginnen mogelijk geworden de aanzienlijke verzamelingen fotografie en info van beide site-producenten te bundelen. Alleen al daardoor is een fotografie verzameling aan het ontstaan die zijn weerga niet kent. Zo is er intussen al een aanzienlijke verzameling opgebouwd van foto-albums van uit Japan afkomstige meer bekende Shibari modellen.

Daarnaast is er ook een groeiende verzameling van Shibari kunst fotografie aan het ontstaan.

Wasteland is een van de grotere film producenten in de kinky wereld en daarmee komt dus ook film materiaal beschikbaar. En verder vloeit uit de samenwerking ook weer samenwerking met anderen voort en is dus nu al werk van de beroemde Japanse bondage fotograaf Suguira te zien en films van David Lawrence, een van de meer eigentijdse Japanse bondage artiesten. Uiteraard zijn ook mijn eigen films en foto series daar te vinden.

Bondage Geisha groeit en blijft groeien. Uiteindelijk is het de bedoeling dat het de bibliotheek en het museum van Shibari wordt. Dat zal nog jaren duren en vermoedelijk komt dot project ook nooit af. Maar dat is ook niet de bedoeling. De bedoeling is dat de verzameling groeit, groeit en verder groeit. En er steeds meer samenwerking komt.

Daardoor wordt het voor iedereen gemakkelijker om toegang te krijgen tot de werkelijkheid van Shibari - een werkelijkheid die soms heel onwerkelijk, surrealistisch en fantastisch kan zijn.
