"A troubled economy should not keep the kinky community from having access to information and entertainment," Bondage Geisha staff said yesterday, as they announced a dramatic price change. For the remainder of 2008 the leading Japanese bondage site and KinkCulture sponsor cut membership prices in half. This is order to support the kinky community and keep Internet pricing at a reasonable level in difficult times.

"We are a strong supporter of the community," Bondage Geisha co-founder Jack Hemingway explained. "In troubled times 'extras' will be cut out of the budget quickly in order to cut expenses. Community members however should not become the victim of irresponsible Wall Street management. The kinky community already suffers enough from ill-informed government policies, outright censorship and xenofobia. We do not want to make it impossible for members of the kinky community to gain access to high quality information and entertainment they need."

"Teaching and providing access to solid, quality information are longstanding traditions within the responsible kinky community," says Bondage Geisha co-founder Hans Meyer. "The community needs to have access to such information at all times. For safety reasons as well as being able to relate to others and support the all important 'coming out of the closet' process, thousands of people find themselves confronted with every day. The community has enough trouble as a result of the fact that governments and others appear to be unable to understand the difference between pornography and non-mainstream sexually related information. Our freedom of expression should not be further curtailed as a result of dollar-crazy Wall Street executives and irresponsible bank managers. So, if the budget goes down our pricing goes down."

Bondage Geisha membership fees have been cut from $29.95 per month to $ 14.85, effective immediately. "We are setting an example," says Meyer - a renowned European community leader and author of several books. "Other responsible kink-oriented media woill do well to follow our lead."

In general, there are some issues left to do. We are aware of them and will knock them down one by one over the course of thsi week. You do not need to alert us. We have tested the site at lengths and have a to do list of the last issues.

Our fully integrated chatroom is now live. This means you no longer need to make a seperate profile, but can chat your heart by just hitting the top link and go for it.

You can create your iown rooms if you like, limit yourself to a discussion with friends only or take part in whatever is happening in the main room.

In the meantime a few other things returned as well, such as the profile, picture and video voting system.

Okay, back to the to do list, so I can inform you about more fun stuff tomorrow.

Strange question right? Well, actually not. We are in the process of handling a database conversion problem. In the conversion your gender (ehm, well just the one in your profile) may have gone astray. Please check your account and profile settings to check the following:

* your gender

* whome you would like to meet

We are hand-correcting profiles as best as we can but yeah, we can make mistakes too (would you believe)

And while you are at it: if your nickname is less than five characters, please adjust it to at least five. This too is a new database requirement.

KinkCulture has a new fun game: BDSM Academy.

BDSM Academy is a ten level quiz about BDSM. Test your current knowledge and unsterstanding of the BDSM world, people, do's and don't and habits. You may even learn a thing or two :)

One of the things the KinkCulture team is trying to do is to be as userfriendly as we possibly can (within the limitations that a day has only 24 hours and that we do need to eat, sleep and spank or otherwise maltreat our partners - grin). What we try to do is to try and accomodate our members as best as we can. For this, we need your input.

Look at it this way. The software that is behind this community is huge and has more options and possibilities than you can think of. if we would dump all that on members it would be so confusing that most members would simply feel both lost and overwhelmed. So, we're not going to do that.

Instead, the route we are taking is the "peep" system. In other words: if users ask for something and we think it is of more or less something more users would want or feel comfortable with, we will try to implement it. Which is why we ask you to ...... ask!

Please bring up ideas, things you would like, stuff you don't need, things you badly need or things you miss. If it is feasable, it is more than a little likely we will accommodate your requests. Or at the very least try to.  This is YOUR community, so YOU should feel at home here.

Having said that - it is not unlikely that what you are looking for is already there. Please do take a moment to check my blog for hints and tips on how to use KinkCulture and get as much benefits from it as you can. And use the help groups. Either one of our hosts or other, more experienced, members are likely to point you to what is already there. 

We have a substantial team around. Not just the webmasters and hosts, but quite a few technicians as well. These you never see or hear about, but be assured that some of them work around the clock to turn this community into the best there is.
